What do we deserve? A democracy or an autocracy!!!

What do we have?

A democracy !!! Really???

Loksabha elections 2009 took place and Congress led UPA won against BJP led NDA. The same trend followed in assembly elections of Maharashtra, Haryana and recently Jharkhand. And then hell lot of discussions over the success of Congress and loss of BJP.

But as per my knowledge, a democracy is the system for the people and by the people. Then in such case it can not be a victory of one particular party or loss of another one. It can be seen as a triumph of one particular section of the people over other section. May be, it is a fight between rich and strong section of the people against common man. The way it used to happen with famously called, ’Sawakarshahi’ or Feudalism.

I must mention the reason which made me think on these lines. Neither I am going to comment on anything nor will advice; I don’t think I deserve that. But I want to raise certain questions here or would like to leave some thought based on certain facts seen around.

I remember when assembly elections 2004 were declared in Maharashtra. Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde, the then CM, has declared free power scheme for farmers. The scheme was soon withdrawn immediately when Congress again came to power and Mr. Shinde replied, ”such promises has to be given during elections”. This was not the first time that some political party has broken the promise but at least they never use to except it shamelessly in the past.

Then we also have a political outfit led by Mr. Sharad Pawar, i.e. NCP. Who claims to be so called, ’Secular’ (One will forget his English if he will try to find the meaning of this word w.r.t. Indian politics). This claims to have all the principles similar to congress but still wish to run a separate party under the leadership of their chief. Do they have any ideology or motive except wining elections one after another??? What about the new sensation in this political drama, the MNS???

We are a country with over one billion population. Everyone has their own ideas regarding running the country. So shall we go for that much political parties or what???? If you have some ideology then can’t you work with the original party with similar ideology?? Can’t you get things done from the same??

Do we always need some Gandhi, Thackerey or Pawar only to lead the path?? One party which runs on ideology is facing defeat after one another. I honestly don’t feel sad for it, because it is born to struggle. It has been the history of this country, whoever fights for the common man or for the truth and with some ideology has always struggled. It was Pandavas who had to go for Vanvas, not kaurav or it was Aurangajeb who was sitting on Delhi Takht though we had a better deserving king like Shivaji Maharaj.

The one without ideology can go to any extent for power because it is the only motive for them. Is it not the truth?? So what is prevailing in India, Individual powers or power of Ideologies???

As I said earlier I won’t comment but would like to leave the thought for whosoever reads this.

When British left our country they said something on very serious note that, “We don’t deserve a democracy.” I really wish to disagree with them!!!!!!!!

  2. I liked this blog. Kapil, you write well and I must say that your political analysis is good though it seems to be little biased towards BJP.
No issues, keep writing and all the best.
